Have a stress-free wedding with these 10 tips! If you've ever planned a wedding, or if you're smack in the middle of planning your own, you know how stressful it can be. There are a million and one things to do, and not to mention, it feels like a million and one people tell you how YOUR day should be.
It's easy to say, "don't stress"! Let's be honest, it's not easy to do. Check out these awesome tips for having a stress-free day and planning process!
#1. Set a Budget
A big stress factor for weddings is how expensive they are. Make this your first step in the planning process. Break down what is most important to you down to the least important part. Then plan how much you want to spend in each category. When reaching out to vendors, let them know your budget so they can work with you.
#2. Start Planning Early
Did you know a lot of vendors can be booked up to 1-year in advance? Get a head start on your planning by starting a year out - if possible. The earlier you book everything and get a deposit down, the better. This will also give your guests a chance to take time off work if they need to plan ahead as well.
#3. Have a Vision
How do you want your day to look? Are people dancing? Is the food amazing? How do your dress and decor look? Keep this vision in mind when planning your wedding and let your vendors know as well. Your day is unique to you and your fiance.
#4. Pay Vendors a Week Before Your Wedding
Don't be stressed out about money on your wedding day. Get everything paid in advance so you aren't chasing down wedding vendors on your big day. You'll have a clear mind and less stress if everything is done before your wedding. Alternatively, have your wedding planner pay your wedding vendors.
#5. Create an Emergency Kit
You're going to have a long day ahead of you, and things probably won't stay together like you hoped all day. Here are some of our favourite things to have prepared in your emergency kit for a stress-free day
Bobby Pins
Safety Pins
Spare Flats/shoes
Extra Clothes
Water
Snacks
Hand Cream
Make-Up
#6. Ask your Vendors About Back-Up Plans
All of your vendors should have a contingency plan. Most that have been in the business for a while, definitely do! This means that they are prepared for anything on your wedding day. This includes things like the weather, illness, equipment, and anything specific to their industry.
#7. Create a Timeline
Go in with a plan and create a timeline for when important events are going to happen. Let your vendors know when these are so they can plan ahead and be prepared. Your photographers won't miss a shot and DJ's won't miss a beat. This will help keep your wedding day moving smoothly and stress-free.
#8. Hire a Planner or Coordinator
Or at least designate someone to be in charge of little things. If any of the above tips were overwhelming, you might want to consider having a planner or coordinator. They can also help with this like wrangling people up for photos, tracking down your bouquet, liaison with the wedding vendors, bustling your dress. These are little things you will want to be the least of your worries!
#9. No One's Wedding Day is Perfect
This can't be more true, as a wedding vendor, we have seen it all! Anything can happen on your wedding day. If anyone told you their day was perfect, that means they made the absolute best of it (which, we hope every couple will) and they didn't sweat the small stuff.
#10. Remember What's Important
You're married! That's the point of the whole day. Everyone is there for you. They want to have fun, laugh, and smile with you. So make the best of anything that happens on your wedding day and you will have the best stress-free wedding!
